In this video I'll walk you through the step-by-step process of how to steam can, ensuring your pickled beets retain their delicious flavours. From preparing the beets with precision to crafting the perfect pickling solution, my easy-to-follow instructions and handy tips will empower you to create jars of homemade goodness that can be enjoyed for months.
Recipe to the pickling solution. I tripled the recipe for 15 jars
2 1/2 cups (625 ml) white vinegar
1 cup (250 ml) water
1 cup (250 ml) sugar
Optional
Spice mixture – choice of:
A. Traditional: 3 tbsp (45 ml) pickling spice
B. Sweet Blend: 2 cinnamon sticks, halved 10 whole cloves
C. Caraway Beets: 2 tbsp (25 ml) caraway seeds, 2 tsp (10 ml) black peppercorns
