In 1622, the Nuestra Senora
In 1622, the Nuestra Senora de Atocha was wrecked on the reef in a hurricane about an hour's boat ride west of Key West in the Gulf of Mexico. In 1985 Mel Fisher located the main pile of silver and gold, and to this day, his company still brings up treasures regularly. Today we are diving off the JB Magruder, to search the bedrock 30 feet below for gold, silver, and other treasures that have been lying under 6 feet of sand for hundreds of years.
