Let's suppose you're working on a collection of different tracks and when you put them all in a playlist, they don't 'fit together'. Sure, their volumes broadly match up but somehow the tone of the tracks doesn't feel consistent. This week's episode may help by providing one interesting way to use the EQ footprint of one sound (or enitre mix) and to apply that to another. This can be done using Logic's Match EQ plug-in, which analyses both the Current Mix and a Reference Mix file, allowing you to apply the frequency content of one to another.

I'll show how the analysis can be done and then walk you through the assorted tools available to tame the results if they feel a little too wild and extreme. I'll also talk you through some of the alternative ways you might want to apply Match EQ earlier in the process than only at the mix stage.
