This is a Guide Walkthrough Build Guide for the Fighter Battle Master subclass in Baldur's Gate 3 : Let me show you how to make the best Fighter class in Baldur's Gate 3 in this Battle Master Build Guide : I'll walk you through the character creation through leveling up decisions and give you the best advice for making a Fighter I could find : This Baldur's Gate 3 Class Guide will make sure you are on your way to victory in this epic RPG .. Join me for my Fighter Battle Master Class Build Guide for Baldur's Gate 3
If you are going Fighter in Baldur's Gate 3, I highly recommend the Battle Master subclass because for Baldur's Gate 3, the Battle Master Fighter is extremely versatile and adaptable. You can pick the Battle Master at level 3 : And I want to help you with a build guide for your Battle Master Fighter in Baldur's Gate 3. So let's start at the beginning, when making your character, I highly recommend the Soldier background if you want to focus on being a tank and standing in the frontline. If you want a bit more survival you could go with Outlander, or if you are looking to roleplay a bit more as the leader with persuasion and performance you could choose Folk Hero.
As far as Race for the Fighter Battle Master in Baldur's Gate 3 I highly recommend the Half-Orc because he gets Relentless Endurance, Menacing, Darkvision and Savage Attack. These racials help the Fighter more than any other race in Baldur's Gate 3 for the Fighter Battle Master in my opinion.
Now for your Stats, I recommend putting your +2 in Strength and your +1 in Constitution, Dexterity should be your third stat. So for Fighter Battle Masters in Baldur's Gate 3, Strength is your primary abilty score or stat, Constituion is second and Dexterity is third.
As a Fighter Battle Master, a high Stength and Constitution will help with hit chance on weapons and survivability. I would recommend 17 in Strength, 13 Dexterity, 16 Constitution, 8 Intelligence, 9 Wisdom, 11 Charisma
As far as skills for your Fighter Battle Master in Baldur's Gate 3 I recommend going with Acrobatics & Survival
I recommend letting your Fighter Battle Master use 2hand weapons such as 2hand Axes or Swords. I like the Greatswords because you get access to CLEAVE to damage multiple enemies at once.
Let's work our way through the level up process of your fighter : At Level 1 : You'll mostly rely on attacking, but you will have access to Second Wind to give yourself a heal. The Fighter class will start with some of the best Health in Baldur's Gate 3, but since you will be right in the middle of the fights, Second Wind will help you survive. It is a bonus action, so you can attack and heal in a single turn.
At Level 2 You will get Action Surge and this is amazing for allowing your Fighter to get an additional action in a turn : and it replenishes every short rest, and you get 2 short rests per long rest. With Action Surge you can attack a second time on your turn.
Level 3 for the Fighter is big because you will unlock your Subclass which I highly recommend the Battle Master : And once you select it, you will get the Superiority Die : you can use it once per short rest : This superiority die allows you to do 3 maneuvers : Menacing Attack : You expend a superiority die to deal extra damage and frighten the target, making it unable to move.
You also get Pushing Attack : Uses a superiority die to push the target back, great for pushing an enemy off a cliff or ledge for additional damage.
Riposte is the final of the three options for Superiority Die : When a creature attacks your Fighter and misses, you can use a superiority die to retaliate and do damage. This isn't an action, it's a reaction, meaning extra hits during a round.
At Level 4 the Fighter Battle Master : I recommend choosing Great Weapon Master : This allows for when you kill a creature OR do a crit hit, you get to make another melee attack as a bonus action. Also, you may take a -5 penalty to attack rolls, but you will increase your damage by 10, this is well worth it.
At Level 5 the Fighter Battle Master recieves a passive feature called Extra Attack : Which is simply that you can make an additional free attack after your first attack. This is every one of your turns you get to attack twice, then you can expend your Action Surge for a third attack once per long rest. This is what makes the Fighter so powerful : Getting so many attack actions.
If you are going Fighter Battle Master : I would keep Shadowheart with you for heals and support, Gale for long range damage and Astarion for sneaky rogue tricks.
Grab up heavy armor for your Fighter Battle Master as soon as possible to help you survive being up front in battle so much.
