Cobra RAD 700i Test: MultaRadar & Redflex Halo Photo Radar

The Cobra RAD 700i, along
The Cobra RAD 700i, along with the Uniden R9, is tested against some very difficult to detect photo radar enforcement systems.
We test the Cobra RAD 700i against the Redflex Halo redlight and speed on green photo radar; a Redflex mobile photo radar van; and finally a MultaRadar FMCW photo radar system.
All of these systems utilize some form of K-band police radar.
The Redflex systems operate on the low side of K-band, normally found at 24.125GHz or 24.150GHz.
These systems alerted at 24.094, 24.085, 24.062, 24.054GHz.
The MultaRadar FMCW radar operates at higher K-band frequencies including 24.13x and 24.25x GHz.
All of these Cobra RAD 700i tests demonstrate the Cobra RAD 700i performs well against these systems.
An impressive feat for any radar detector, especially one branded Cobra, making the RAD 700i a serious, yet inexpensive.
The Cobra RAD 700i appears to be best Cobra radar detector ever made and at the low price point of $249, an impressive performer against these systems.
It’s nice to see some of Escort’s best features make their way into the Cobra brand.
This couldn’t have happened if it weren’t for the Cedar merger of both Escort and Cobra nearly a decade ago.
We will be testing the RAD 700i more on our upcoming cross-country trip against conventional police radar, line Ka-band.
Police lidar detection has generally been a strong point historically for Cobra so hopefully we will see how it does on the road paired with the Veil G6 stealth coating.
