Ecologists carry out sampling using
Ecologists carry out sampling using many methods. In this video, we’ll look at the two you need to know for your GCSE Biology and Combined Science, and how to interpret the data they collect. Download the accompanying workbook from www.emmatheteachie.co.uk now.
ECOLOGY WORKBOOK: https://emmatheteachie.co.uk/product/...
QUADRATS
- what are they
- how to use them for random sampling
- how you calculate the area of the quadratic
- how to interpret the results
TRANSECTS
- what they are
- why they are used
- how they are used
Data questions are really likely on these, and they have also been 6-mark questions on the old specification, so maybe dig up those old questions and try them.
As well as being on the content part of the specification, sampling is a required practical - and there are only two required practicals for paper 2 Biology - Combined Science. So it is almost guaranteed to come up in some form! Make sure you learn this content really well.
COMMENT BELOW: Have you used quadrats or transects at school?
