In this video, I will show you how to set-up the SmartThings Home Monitor using the new SmartThings App. SmartThings Home Monitor is a powerful tool in the SmartThings ecosystem for monitoring your home’s security and taking action when events occur. It's basically a DIY home security system. If set-up fully it will protect your home from break-ins, water, and fire for zero dollars per month.
Not only do all of your sensors work for monitoring your home just like an alarm system but you can also use them for home automation. When a door opens turn on a light, make an announcement, or let me know if a door is left open. If a door is left open for too long have it turn off your AC system to save money. Use a motion sensor to turn on lights and turn off lights if no one is in the room.
As you can see this is a very useful way to use your smart home and add security to your family all with no monthly fee. You still do need to buy the equipment although it will work for more than one use so it will improve your life and the safety of your family.
