The Cafelat Robot is a lever powered’Manual espresso machine made completely from metal.
There are two versions available the Standard Robot and the Robot Barista with the pressure gauge and is available in blue and green. As manual espresso makers go, the Cafelat Robot is very simple to use with only a portafilter, Standard 58mm filter basket & dispersion screen as the removable parts allowing a simple workflow for quick multiple shots and cleaning out the portafilter.
It also comes with a tamp and double spouts for splitting your shots.
We want to weigh-out and grind our beans. You can easily accommodate for upwards of 30g
of coffee or more with the large filter basket allowing space for brew water.. But The recipe I’m
going with today is 20g of coffee to 45g of double espresso out.Now grind your beans to a fine grind. I’m using the baratza Sette 270  We’re making espresso here so It’s an espresso grind.
Dose your coffee inTo the filter basket and tamp down. place the shower screen on top of your grinds. And add 55g of 95ºc water  to the top of the brew basket. Then raise the lever arms
and lock in your brew basket.. Begin to slowly push down on the lever arms.. this is the beautiful thing about lever espresso machines. You actually feel the resistance slowly giving way through the extraction of your espresso shot. If it's way too easy to begin pressing down than you’ll most likely
need to fine your grind up.And you’re always going to need to tweak the grind either a little finer
or coarser depending on the feedback you get with lever espresso machine.Your aim is to keep the pressure consistent around the 6-9 bar mark for the length of your espresso shots.
I can be flexible on the time too. So don’t feel you have to push down the hardest on the arms, so long as you’re achieving that pressure of 6-9 bars you’re good.
Without the pressure gauge, the resistance is still something you can feel Without reading the gauge
And you can time the shotAnd watch the flow of the Espresso coming out I’m going to stop pressing once I have achieved my 38g double espresso out and just raise the levers up slightly will stop the flow. Full of crema and deliciously strong I’ll add some hot water to this for a long black but you can add your favorite milk too for a tasty latte or cappuccino.
Reloading your portafilter for back to back coffees just requires you to knock out the spent grinds,
dry the portafilter and repeat the process.
Cleaning the robot is super easy, rinsing all the parts under water. Give the seal on the piston with a damp cloth and every so often I’d soak the basket and dispersion screen in some espresso cleaner.
