The new engine for the passenger train that stops in Tampa is running over my camera. I believe that this is the train that hit a garbage truck a few years later.

I made this video for my boys to watch while I was at work teaching (I think it was 5th grade). They were about 2 & 4 yo then. The 4yo, Andrew, has gone on to become quite the train nut. Back then, we used to "Train Hunt" by driving along the tracks and periodically crossing them to check further down the line. As you can imagine, we didn't see a lot of trains. First, we figured out that the passenger trains had schedules, even though they follow the schedules loosely. The FIRST time after we found out they had a schedule, we waited, and waited,....and waited. It never came. We went to the station to ask if it was coming and the station manager told us it had hit a pickup truck and the passengers were being delivered by bus. It is frequently late, but since then, we found out Amtrak has a tracking app, which has been immensely helpful. Now, we check it before we head out to see it.
Andrew has also learned a bunch about predicting freight trains, which don't have schedules, technically. He has been teaching me about what the signals mean, like the white one is Lunar and means the engineer needs to contact the yard guy before entering. We now have a path around the yard where we check lights for greens and yellows signaling an in-going or out-going train depending on which side of the road the "not red" light is on.
It's been great father/son time.
Whether you call them trains, trenes, treana, ਟ੍ਰੇਨ, रेल गाडी, Zug, Voz, or 培養, they are fun to watch. Check out our other videos on the channel.
