When the finale aired there was one thing on viewer's minds: why did they kill off Elena in the first place and HOW did she end up at Noel's wedding? Here is an explanation of what Felicity did to change her fate and why these scenes were missing. Realistically, the finale NEEDED these scenes but due to time the Elena stuff was cut.
Note: J.J. stated that Francie from "Alias" was modeled after Elena. When Elena tells Felicity, "You look like you've seen a ghost!" these are the same words Francie/Allison says to Sark on Season 3 of "Alias."
