The idea of Central Asia – South Asia Transmission
Interconnection Project (CASA-1000) was conceived
in 2008 to transmit 1300 MW of surplus electricity
(May to Sept) from existing hydel resources in
Tajikistan and Kyrgyz Republic through Afghanistan
to Pakistan.
