When do you actually say "beide" and when do you say "beides?" Or "die beiden?" In this video I'll show you the the most important differences with simple examples.

Short summary:
Two different things: "beides"
Two of the same things: "beide"
Two people, who are doing something together as one unit: "die beiden"
Two people, who independent of each other are doing something: "beide"

Additionally, for those who would like to understand it even more in depth: "Die beiden" works also for things when these things together and dependent on each other. "Beides" can also be used with people when the people aren't directly referred to, but rather the characteristics of the people. For example:

"Ich brauche die beiden Stühle nicht mehr. Möchtest du sie haben?" (I don't need both chairs anymore. Would you like to have them?) The chairs are defined and are understood as one unit, so here it would be "die beiden Stühle" and not "beide Stühle."

"Wir brauchen sowohl fleißige als auch kreative Mitarbeiter. Beides ist wichtig." (We need both hardworking as well as creative employees. Both are important.) "Beides" in this case isn't referring to the employees themselves, but instead the characteristics "hardworking" and "creative." Therefore, it's about more than the two employees.
