Following the recent updates to the GLE and GLE Coupé, Mercedes-Benz now unveils the revamped GLS, Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC (combined fuel consumption 14.1-13.8 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 320-314 g/km)[1], and Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+ (combined fuel consumption 13.2-12.8 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 298-289 g/km)[1]. These large SUV models now boast improved design, technology, and equipment, elevating comfort, connectivity, and ambiance to new heights.

Featuring spacious exterior dimensions, these SUVs comfortably accommodate up to seven passengers across three seating rows. European dealerships will receive the upgraded Mercedes-Benz GLS by the end of October 2023, while the US market launch is slated for mid-September.

Mercedes-Benz GLS: Aesthetic Upgrades and Off-Road Functionality

The latest GLS models sport a more striking radiator grille, with four high-quality Silver Shadow galvanized louvers. The bumper is also more visually prominent, featuring integrated air inlet grilles and a high-gloss black surround. A redesigned standard large simulated underguard and three horizontal blocks inside the rear lights further enhance the exterior. A new 20-inch multi-spoke light-alloy wheel in Himalayas grey with a high-sheen finish expands the wheel selection.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS continues to offer standard seating for seven, with two new leather color options: Catalana beige and Bahia brown. The interior trim finishes have been revamped, with glossy brown lime wood now standard. The MANUFAKTUR glossy black flowing lines piano lacquer trim element, previously exclusive to the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC, is now available for the entire GLS lineup.

Silver Shadow galvanized louvers on the center and side air vents echo design elements found in the Mercedes-Maybach GLS.

As most GLS drivers primarily navigate paved roads or mild to moderately challenging off-road terrain, Mercedes-Benz has redefined the Off-Road Engineering package, which now includes an underride guard and an additional 30 millimeters of ground clearance.

The updated MBUX infotainment system offers a refreshed display design, with three customizable styles (classic, sporty, discreet) and three modes (Navigation, Assistance, Service). The classic style features the familiar two-tube design, while the sporty style showcases a red, dynamic central rev counter. The discreet style minimizes content to essentials. Moreover, both displays can be coordinated with the ambient lighting across seven color schemes, resulting in a captivating interior color experience. The central display retains its original content and offers convenient touchscreen functionality.

The current MBUX generation's "Off-Road Mode" delivers a visual experience with features like gradient, lateral inclination, compass, and steering angle. The standard Parking Package with a 360-degree camera provides a "transparent bonnet" function, displaying a virtual view beneath the vehicle's front on the central display using images from the 360-degree camera. This feature helps drivers better recognize obstacles such as large rocks or deep potholes on the path ahead.
