The Living Daylights (1987) Read along book and tape, digital HD version. During a training operation, a "00" agent is unexpectedly murdered. When British agent James Bond organises the defection of a top ranking Russian general, the general divulges a plan by the bad guys to kill all its enemy agents. Bond is suspicious of the plot, but nevertheless is ordered to kill the enemy officer masterminding the operation.

Originally the film was proposed to be a prequel in the series, an idea that eventually resurfaced with the reboot of the series in 2006. SMERSH, the fictionalised Russian counterintelligence agency that featured in Fleming's Casino Royale and several other early James Bond novels, was an acronym for Smiert Shpionam – "Death to spies".
