Shakeel Badayuni (1916 - 1971) was one of the most popular Urdu poets of the mid-20th century. Though a lot of his popularity came from his prolific work as a writer of hit film songs, he was a very accomplished ghazal poet in the classical tradition. Many of his ghazals were sung by artists like Begum Akhtar and Rafi. Shakeel had a wonderful way of reciting his poetry and was extremely popular in mushairas. The recordings posted here are from the late 1950's in Pakistan.

The first ghazal is one of his best-known:

gham-e aashiqee se keh do rah-e aam tak na pohNchay
mujhae khaof hae ye tuhmat mire naam tak na pohNchay

This is followed by a couple of ash'aar from two other ghazals.
