Rinse the rice thoroughly. 2. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes. 3. Drain and set aside. Step 2: Boil Milk 1. Boil the milk in a large saucepan. 2. Reduce heat to medium-low. Step 3: Add Rice and Sugar 1. Add the soaked rice to the boiling milk. 2. Add sugar and mix well. Step 4: Cook and Stir 1. Cook for 20-25 minutes or until rice is tender. 2. Stir frequently to prevent burning. Step 5: Add Spices and Ghee 1. Add cardamom powder and saffron threads (if using). 2. Mix well. 3. Add ghee or unsalted butter. Step 6: Garnish 1. Garnish with chopped nuts and raisins (if using). Step 7: Serve 1. Serve warm or chilled. Tips: - Use short-grain rice for creamy texture. - Adjust sugar to taste. - Add other flavorings like cinnamon or nutmeg. - Serve with other Indian sweets like gulab jamun or jalebi.
