Opal Hunting In Lightning Ridge! Will We Strike It Rich?

Back in the Coocoran we
Back in the Coocoran we hunt for more life changing riches!
Our set up is basic and involves a lot of shovelling but at the end of the day we continue the hunt and keep on living the opal hunters dream.
Can we find the ever elusive black opal Nobby or will it be more crystal or nothing at all! Only time will tell.
We very much appreciate Scott McMillan who once again hosted us on his claim and allowed us to have a go!
We are also very grateful to our friend and fellow White Cliffs miner Carl Grice for lending us his hoist and allowing us to take it the 800kms to Lighting Ridge to help shift opal bearing dirt out of the mine! We promise to bring it home in one piece.
The mine itself is located on quite a productive area of the Coocoran with tunnels leading into the main section where Scott mines with his partners the Cheals also from Outback Opal Hunters.
We have met Chris many times and hope to meet the boys one of these days!
It was quite a successful dig all in all and I see us making the move to Lighting Ridge full time one of these days!
