The Pro Motocross Championship has
The Pro Motocross Championship has moved down to Maryland for round ten, the 2023 Budds Creek Motocross.
The track has been part of the series for more than 30 years, dating back to the days when the 125 and 500 divisions were separate tours, and it has been a mainstay since 1994. Stay tuned for a brief history lesson on the land from third generation property owner Ezra Beasley.
Its another weekend of the pits being near capacity, with 87 racers listed in the 450 Class and 91 riders, including some of the latest graduates of Loretta Lynn’s, here for the 250 Class.
Julien Beaumer, Casey Cochran, Mark Fineis, and Daxton Bennick have declared their plans to go pro in 2024, and this weekend will be the first time we see them all on the gate together.
Its set to be a perfect day at the track, with temperatures in the high 70s to low 80s, clear skies, and surprisingly low humidity for late August near the Atlantic Ocean.
Last week’s action in the 250 Class shuffled up the championship standings. Hunter Lawrence continues to lead, but Justin Cooper is now ranked second and has 22 points to make up in the next four motos. Haiden Deegan’s DNF dropped the rookie to fourth and put him one point behind Jo Shimoda as things wind down.
Heres how the points look going into the penultimate round.
In the 250 Class, its Hunter Lawrence in first with 344, Justin Cooper second with 322, Jo Shimoda third with 309, Haiden Deegan fourth with 308, Levi Kitchen fifth with 290, RJ Hamlshire sixth with 288, Max Vohland seventh with 252, Tom Vialle eighth with 237, Ryder DiFrancesco ninth with 167, and Jalek Swoll tenth with 166.
Newly crowned 450 Class champion Jett Lawrence has an even 450, Dylan Ferrandis is second with 347, Aaron Plessinger is third with 312, Adam Cianciarulo is fourth with 269, Chase Sexton fifth with 260, Ty Masterpool sixth with 215, Garrett Marchbanks is seventh with 200, Fredrik Noren eighth with 189, Cooper Webb ninth with 147, and Grant Harlan has taken over tenth with 145.
