Rishab Shetty was in the news after reports claiming that he took a dig at Rashmika Mandanna for leaving the Kannada film industry at the IFFI press conference surfaced on social media. During the event, the actor-director said, 'I have to give the initial credit to the Kannada audience for making 'Kantara' such a huge success. It is because of them that the film went on to have a wider reach in other states. I’m always grateful and thankful to the Kannada audience. So, I shouldn’t be the person who is leaving the industry after delivering just one hit.' This speech of his sparked controversy as a user pointed out it to be an indirect dig at Rashmika. However, now, the same user apologized to the filmmaker and wrote, 'Rishab meant that he doesn’t want to be called a person who’s leaving the industry after delivering one hit. It does not imply 'I’m not leaving the Kannada industry like others.' And while responding to him the actor-filmmaker denied such allegations of criticizing Rash and said, 'Finally someone understood what I really meant to say.' Notably, after the success of 'Geetha Govindam', Rashmika did more projects in other languages than in Kannada thereby receiving backlash from fans of Kannada cinema. Meanwhile, on the work front, Rishab is currently working on 'Kantara 2' whereas Rashmika is garnering praise for her recently released movie 'Animal'.
