Raphtalia is best Raccoon Girl! The Rising of the Shield Hero employs a variety of characters, and none is cuter than Naofumi's loyal sword, Raphtalia. However, despite her being owned, Raphtalia is actually one of the most free demi-humans, in all of Melromarc, and the world of Shield Hero. This video explains Raphtalia's motives as a character in isekai anime Rising of the Shield Hero, and why she's truly liberated through her duty and gratitude to Naofumi, and in repaying the Shield Hero for his acts of kindness. We also raise some ethical questions such as... Is someone "unfree" if they are a slave that is treated as an equal?
