Designed by William Cobb, this out & back wooden coaster was built in-house by the Frontier Construction Company. The coaster, built in 1978, was given the name Tornado after a real tornado hit Adventureland before its debut season in July 1974 forcing the opening of the park to be delayed until August of that year.
