Māngere Bridge is suburb of
Māngere Bridge is suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. Surrounded by the Manukau Harbour, the area is the most north-western suburb of South Auckland, and is connected to Onehunga in central Auckland by bridge.
This walk is down the shops at Māngere Bridge Village on Coronation Road. The commercial centre of the suburb, which developed in the 1950s and 1960s. The village holds weekly Sunday markets, and is the venue for the annual Māngere Bridge Santa Parade.
Many features of the Auckland volcanic field are found in and around Māngere Bridge, including Māngere Mountain, an 106 metre high feature in the centre of the suburb, and Māngere Lagoon, a volcanic tidal lagoon opposite Puketutu Island in the harbour. The Ambury Regional Park, run by Auckland Council, is a working farm and nature sanctuary that connects to the Kiwi Esplanade Walkway and the Watercare Coastal Walkway.
The total distance is about 500m and was recorded on a spring afternoon in 2021 with a temperature of 20°C. The Covid alert level was at Level 3 - so fairly reduced traffic/activity levels, increased mask wearing, contactless services etc.
