Black-crowned Night Heron ( Nycticorax nycticorax ) Immature in December 2023

After dawn, I saw a very active young night heron.
Young night herons have different colored plumage from adults, so they appear to be a different species. In Japanese, young night herons are sometimes called "Hoshi-Goi"(Hoshi means "stars" and Goi means "fifth-rank") because of the pattern on their plumage.
