Born Emilie Charlotte Langtry on October 13th, 1853 in Jersey to the Reverend William Corbert Le Breton and his wife, Emilie Davis in the old Rectory at St. Saviour in Jersey, where her father was Rector.

At the age of 20, she married Irish landowner Edward Langtry, and in 1876 they moved to Eaton Place, Belgravia London.

An accomplished actress, she was also famous for being the mistress of the Prince of Wales - Albert Edward (Bertie, later Edward the VII).  She also had an affair with the Earl of Shrewsbury.

She was close friends with Oscar Wilde, and he was the one that initially encouraged her to try the stage, and she appeared in her first play called A Fair Encounter.

Later in life Lily divorced and ended up marrying Hugo Gerald de Bath, and became Lady de Bathe.  She resided in Monaco while Hugo spent most of his time in Venice.  On February 12, 1929 Langtry passed from pneumonia.  She is buried in her parents tomb at St. Saviours Church in Jersey.
