STORYLINE:
The German and Danish defence ministers on Friday observed Ukrainian soldiers training on Leopard tanks at a military training ground in Klietz in eastern Germany.

Together with the Netherlands and Denmark, Germany is funding the overhaul of Leopard 1A5 main battle tanks from industry stocks.

In order to enable Ukrainian soldiers to operate and maintain the weapon system effectively, training at the Klietz site is being carried out by German and Danish instructors, as well as technicians from the industry.

So far, more than 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been trained at the Klietz training ground.

By the end of the year, this number is expected to reach 9,000.
