STORYLINE:

Ukraine's prime minister could try to create problems in the December 28 re-run for the presidency, his opponent warned on Thursday.

Speaking at a news conference in the capital Kiev, opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko did not elaborate on what sort of trouble could be planned but said he believed the Prime-minister Viktor Yanukovych team will do everything possible to disrupt the elections.

Yushchenko also claimed he was probably poisoned at a September 5 dinner with the head of the Ukrainian security service and his deputy.

He said that it was a political assassination attempt and the investigation would eventually lead to Ukrainian authorities.

Yushchenko and Yanukovych will face  each other for the third time in the presidential rerun on December 26.
