We wanted to create a built-in dry bar in our dining room (because alcohol...). In the first part of this series, I'll show you how we made the dry bar carcass.

We had a closet that was located in our dining room that we didn't really use, so we wanted to convert it into a dry bar, which we would use! For the sake of time, we originally sought quotes from contractors to make this built-in.  However, after receiving quotes of well over $2500 WITHOUT THE FRIDGE, we said, "Screw that!  We'll make it ourselves!"  So we set out on a mission to make this dry bar, WITH the wine and beverage fridge, for a total cost of under half the quote.

We first had to demo the old closet and reconfigure the electrical situation to work for the new space.  After that, we constructed the carcass using plywood materials and pocket hole joinery.  The carcass includes space for the wine/beverage fridge, two "spice rack" style sliding drawers that can hold bottles and beverages, a narrow, deep drawer that can be used to hold a trashcan or other deep containers (we'll be using ours to hold a bin of dog food for our pups), and a shallow, wide drawer.  The carcass boasts a top layer of plywood which will make it easier to anchor the pecan slab countertop to.  We painted the carcass using Sherwin-Williams "Snowbound" white, which will match other cabinetry in our house.

ITEMS OR PRODUCTS FEATURED IN THIS VIDEO:
  -  sketchup.com was used to make the design (it's free to use and there are some great videos on YouTube that explain how to use sketchup if you have not used it before)
  -  cutlistoptimizer.com was used to minimize the amount of materials needed (it's free to use but you only get 10 calculations per day unless you pay extra, so double check your numbers and sizes before you click calculate)
  -  Blum TANDEM BLUMOTION heavy duty undermount drawer slides (I'll go into more detail on these in the video that covers the drawers): http://bit.ly/3sxgy40
