Unlike a smoothie, this Banana Milkshake recipe does not use yoghurt. I’ve kept this recipe super simple using only milk as our primary liquid, along with ice cubes for the water component. Keep in mind that Bananas are very creamy so by adding ice, the milkshake will not be too watery. I’ve also omitted ice cream from this Banana Milkshake recipe to keep it as healthy and simple as possible. Instead of adding vanilla ice cream, I’ve simply added a little bit of vanilla essence or extract to provide lots of flavour, without the extra sugar and fat. You can also substitute that for any other flavour you like. A few of my other favourites are Pistachio, Chocolate and Caramel.

With this quick and easy Banana Milkshake recipe, you’ll be able to enjoy the proven health benefits of this common, yet underrated fruit. Did you know that bananas are rich in fibre, potassium, vitamin C and vitamin B6? Since bananas are mostly water and carbs, they are also extremely low in fat. In addition, bananas contain pectin, which helps to moderate blood sugar levels and also dietary fibres, which help improve your digestive help. Overall, this Banana Milkshake is a very easy and tasty way to enjoy this super healthy fruit.  

If you’re a vegan or lactose-intolerant, you can substitute the milk in this recipe with your favourite dairy-free beverage. I suggest almond milk since we’re already adding almonds to the Banana Milkshake but oat milk also works very well.

Banana Milkshake Ingredients:

1 Banana (Ripe) - Peeled and cut into large pieces
10-12 Almonds + for garnish
Sugar (or honey) - 1/2 tsp
Salt - 1/8 tsp, or a pinch
Vanilla Essence or Extract - 1/4 tsp
2-4 Ice Cubes
Milk - 1 cup
