Scales for blues harmonica (2nd position) Learn how to play over a 12 bar blues with LearnTheHarmonica.com founder Liam Ward. In this video, the scales used are based on the mixolydian mode. You'll hear the scales called "seventh scales" to reflect the fact that they have a minor (flattened) seventh degree, just like (dominant) seventh chords. But don't worry too much about the theory. These scales will help you to develop a practical understanding of the changes happening over the course of a 12 bar blues, and give you a platform to build solos upon. Enjoy!
