Subscribe to my channel for free; https://bit.ly/CHEFOKTAYUSTA Follow Oktay Usta on his social media accounts; Twitter: https://twitter.com/chefoktayusta Facebook: https://web.facebook.com/chefoktayusta/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chefoktayusta/ Homemade baklava with walnuts Ingredients List: 4.5 cups of flour (500 g) An egg A tea glass of yogurt (125ml) A tea glass of sunflower oil (125 m) A tea glass of milk (125 ml) Two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar A pack of baking powder 250 g butter In between the layers: 300 g corn or wheat starch 400 g walnuts or 500 g (Up to you) For sherbet (syrup): 5.5 cups of granulated sugar (1 kg) 6.5 glasses of water (200 ml.) Two slices of lemon Preparation: Put the yoghurt, milk, sunflower oil and egg into the mixing bowl and mix with a whisk. We add vinegar, a pinch of salt and baking powder, mix it, add our flour and create a dough as soft as an earlobe. We knead it for around 5 minutes, cover it and let it rest for 20 minutes. We crash our walnuts in the food processor. They can be a little coarse. We divide our dough into 45 pieces (in the form of 15, 15, 15) and roll it out in the size of a plate using starch and put it on top of each other. It's 45 layers in total. With the help of a roller, we roll out the first 15 pieces of dough in the size of a tray. We place it on the tray. Without waiting, we sprinkle walnuts over it and roll out the our other pieces and put walnuts again. Let's roll out our last piece of dough a little larger than the others because we need an extra for the edges to tuck in. After we tuck in the edges of our dough with the help of a knife, we carefully cut our baklava into slices with a knife. After we allocate the melted butter on our baklava with the help of a brush, we wait for 10 minutes and bake it between 50 minutes and 1 hour in the middle floor of the preheated 180-degree oven. Then let's make our syrup. We put sugar, lemon slices and water in the pot and turn the fire of the stove. After it starts to boil, we boil it for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally with a ladle and take it off the stove. 5 minutes after our dessert comes out of the oven, we bring pour the syrup at room temperature and leave it to cool down. 2 hours later, it's ready to serve.
