This game is in some ways similar to the 1996 Indiana game where Jordan and Pippen score 44 and 40, respectively. This time they both score 37 points and 'Nique adds 43 to the mix.

Jordan comes up with a near triple double on an amazing 67% shooting and adds 4 steals. Also, there are some great Jordan plays in this game, in my opinion.

-The one-handed pass to Perdue at 2:48

-The behind the back dribble and jump shot beating two defenders and the shot clock at 3:45.

-The triple fake at 5:45

-The picture perfect fadeaway at 6:24

-The amazingly quick post move and left handed finish at 8:00

..and so on. If you're wondering why there are no replays for these plays, that's because there was none in the broadcast. Also if you wonder why there are no 'Nique dunks, because all of his points came off jumpers, layups, finger rolls etc.

Enjoy...

Post game notes & quotes:
=========================

Led by matching 37-point performances from Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, the Bulls erased a five-point halftime deficit to win their sixth consecutive home game against the Hawks and improve their NBA-best record to 20-4.

A virtuoso in the low post Saturday, Jordan picked the Hawks apart. He also had 10 assists, nine rebounds, four steals. Pippen added another 37 points, six assists, six rebounds and three steals, but most of his output came before the final push that leveled the Hawks.

"That was an athletic contest," coach Phil Jackson said of the dunks, 13 blocked shots and myriad finger rolls, hanging jumpers and reverse layups.

Dominique Wilkins, who entered the game with a 27.9-point average, second only to Jordan's 28.8, led all scorers with 43 points.

Wilkins had scored 34 of those points with nine minutes left in the third quarter. That fast start ultimately worked to the Bulls' advantage, according to Jordan.

"After the fast start he got an appetite for the shots," Jordan said. "We started collapsing on him late in the game and by that time most of their guys were standing around."

Atlanta coach Bob Weiss agreed.

"We had gotten into the mode where 'Nique was going extremely well," he said. "Then we just started giving him the ball and stopped executing our game."

"They definitely hurt us when they turned their defensive game on in the fourth quarter, but we hurt ourselves," Weiss complained. "It was a better effort; still, we didn't get it done at the end."

In a glaring contrast, the Hawks outrebounded the Bulls 49-37, but committed 24 turnovers leading to 27 Chicago points. By contrast, the Bulls gave it up 13 times without a shot. "A difference that wins and loses games," Weiss noted.

Horace Grant and Stacey King each scored nine. Grant had eight rebounds and blocked four shots.

"Scottie and I were forced to score a lot of points tonight because our leading scorer wasn't there tonight," Jordan joked of Grant's career-high 28-point performance in Friday's victory over the New Jersey Nets.

"Horace played great and he really went to work on the boards in the second half. That was the key for us. We got rebounds and picked up the defense."
