The symptoms of a failing or bad high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) and how to tell if it has gone bad.

What is a High Pressure Fuel Pump?
An HPFP is an advanced mechanical fuel pump that injects highly pressurized fuel directly into the cylinders of gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines.
This has many benefits, such as better emissions, improved fuel economy, and more power.

A GDI System Has Two Fuel Pumps:
An in-tank pump that’s pumping fuel to the engine. (40–75 PSI)
A high-pressure GDI fuel pump that’s creating high fuel pressure. (Pressures can go as high as 2,500 PSI)

Symptoms of a Failing High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP)
Rattling Noise in the Engine Compartment
Check Engine Light on (Fuel Pressure or Misfire Code)
Hard Start
Stalling
Hesitation When Accelerating Between 2000 RPM to 4000 RPM
Poor Gas Mileage
Low Power
Rough Idle
