For all PMI certification holders it’s required to follow the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program and earn PDUs.

CCR program enables continuous learning and development for PMI certification holders, and ensure that PMI certifications maintain their global recognition and value. CCR program is very flexible and it offers a wide range of activities that you can select and do - to renew your certification.

CCR cycle begins from the day of your exam and lasts for a 3 year period.  If you do not earn and record the required PDUs within the cycle, your certification will be suspended.

PDUs are divided into 2 categories: Education and Giving Back

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
#1. EDUCATION - Min: 35 PDUs | Max: unlimited
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This category is aligned with the PMI Talent Triangle®, which combines technical, leadership, and strategic and business management skill sets.

You can earn PDUs by
 - Attending education courses
 - Attending trainings
 - Attending meetings
 - Attending local events
 - Reading

As a certification holder you must earn a minimum of 8 PDUs in each of the skill areas of the PMI Talent Triangle. You can find both paid and free options to earn PDUs.

Course or Training:
      1 hour of instruction = 1 PDU
Organization Meetings:
      1 event participation = 1 to 2 PDUs
Online or Digital Media:
      1 hour of learning = 1 PDU
Read:
      1 hour spent learning = 1 PDU
Informal Learning:
      1 hour of learning = 1 PDU

Note that supporting Documentation might be required for audit purposes. PMI may request evidence to verify the PDUs you have claimed, it can be a certificate of the course/training you’ve taken, letter of attendance or other form of document confirming your participation in the event.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. GIVING BACK TO THE PROFESSION - Min: 0 PDUs | Max: 25
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This category includes activities that enable you to share your knowledge and skills to contribute to the Project management profession. It’s an optional way of earning PDUs, and there is a maximum number of PDUs that are allowed to be earned for each certification in this category.

You can earn PDUs by
 - Working as a Practitioner
 - Creating Content
 - Giving a Presentation
 - Sharing Knowledge
 - Volunteering

Supporting Documentation such as copies of publications, sample educational materials or courses, agendas, copies of presentation, evidence supporting your coaching or mentoring arrangement, including notes from discussions and activities might be required for this category.

There are different CCR requirements for each PMI certification, so in order to learn about all requirements specific to your certification, please check out the PMI CCR handbook in the description below.
