How to convert FAT32 to NTFS File system using cmd command 'convert' and without erasing data on the disk. Steps to do: Open cmd (command prompt window), type the following command 'convert driveletter: \FS:NTFS'.
Sometimes, Convert cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Convert may run if the volume is dismounted. So say 'Yes' to force a dismount. All opened handles to this volume would then be invalid.
Note: Before converting the file system, check the drive for error and this can be done by using the command 'chkdsk'. If the drive contains problem, then user might have to face the following errors: Convert.exe - Wrong volume. The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume into drive \Drive\HarddiskVolume.
