Here's a look at the exterior and interior of Hradec Kralove (Region) Emergency Medical Services ambulance 135.

Volkswagen Transporter/ type II ambulances used to be the standard emergency ambulances in the Czech Republic. Today they're still common but Mercedes Sprinter type II (van) and type III (box) ambulances are also fairly common as well as VW Transporter type III ambulances and a few Crafters.
The Czechs love those VW Transporter type II ambulances for their great handling and speed (check out this video Olomouc Region EMS ambulance respondi... ) but also for being able to quickly reach everything while working in the back.

In Czechia every region runs its own Emergency Medical Service, so there are 14 state run EMS agencies in the country. As far as I know there are just 2 private agencies that are contracted with EMS in a few cities - the ASCR and Trans Hospital.
Hradec Kralove Region EMS runs mostly VW Transporter type II ambulances but since 2019 they've started adding VW T6 box ambulances too! Here's a video of one: Hradec Kralove EMS ambulance 122 resp...

135 is a 2014 VW T5 (facelift)/ Sicar and is housed at the Hradec Kralove fire department in its own bay.
The unit is from a 2014 purchase series of numerous units that came with a rather poor light package as the lights are outdated, dull and simply ineffective. On the other hand the basic layout of the lights is very good!
Some also had a custom designed "lightbar" with the FedSig Vama MicroLED lights (seen in this article https://www.orlicky.net/index.php?id_... ) that (to my knowledge) were later removed because those were so extremely bad. After short time of experiments the agency is now back with Whelen lights & sirens on almost all their newer vehicles.

Since around 2013/ 2014 the Czech government unfortunately requires EMS vehicles to feature battenburg graphics. Personally I'm against that regulation and have not noticed any benefits. In fact, I often find the previous graphics packages to have more contrast and an overall much better look. Apart from that you could easily tell to which region the vehicle belongs to. I simply like the differences and local pride that "custom" emergency vehicle graphics reflect.
Though, HKR EMS also stated a good point (that I 100% agree with) that in the end, emergency lights make the difference and not the graphics. I also can understand their point of view that they wanted to keep the vehicle look as simple as possible with the "new" graphics regulation.

Other agencies in the country decided to make some more custom graphics that featured both the required battenburgs and also their traditional graphics.

Interesting quick story: when the fire station was built someone confused the height with the width of the bay door which will always have an impact on the choice of the vehicle for that station.

A huge special thanks to Hradec Kralove Region EMS for their extremely kind hospitality and touring me around! I love visiting Hradec Kralove!

Please note I've muted the due to music in the background.
