This is a classic easy Southern Cajun Shrimp Creole recipe. I show you how to make this delicious and rich shrimp creole dish. Recipe below. Enjoy.

How To Make Classic Shrimp Creole Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
2 pounds shrimp - shelled and cleaned
1 cup finely diced onions
2-3 stalks finely diced celery
1 finely diced green bell pepper
1 - 28oz can crushed tomatoes
1 cup shrimp stock *
1 can chopped clams and juice
4-5 cloves minced garlic
1 to 1 1/2 tbsp. creole seasoning
1 tbsp. hot sauce
1 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. thyme
1-2 bay leaves
1 tbsp. sugar
salt and black pepper
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. olive oil
2 tbsp. flour

* Simple Shrimp Stock:
2 pounds of shrimp shells
2-3 cups of water
*In a saucepan add shells and cover with water. Bring to a simmer and
cook for 30 minutes. Strain and cool shrimp stock.

In saucepan on medium heat add olive oil, butter, onions, celery, green bell
peppers, salt and black pepper..
Cook and stir for about 5 minutes.
Add minced garlic and stir for 30 seconds and then add flour.
Cook and stir for one minute or until flour is absorbed.
Slowly add shrimp stock, crushed tomatoes, chopped clams and juice.
Stir to combine.
Add seasonings, stir and bring up to a simmer.
Cover and cook for 15 minutes occassionally stirring.
Taste for seasonings and add 1/4 tsp. additional Cajun creole seasoning.
Stir to combine and add shrimp.
Bring to simmer and cook for 4-5 minutes or until shrimp is done.

Serve with rice or grits.
Enjoy.
