The large zoo stretches in front of the famous Brandenburg Gate and was once created as a hunting ground for the ruling class.
After the founding of the empire in 1871, in the late 19th century, the imposing figures of Siegesallee were created on behalf of the 1st German Emperor Wilhelm I.
They showed 32 groups of figures from the history of the Brandenburg-Prussian rulers.
The monumental avenue, derided by parts of Berlin's population as “Doll Alley”, was leveled after the Second World War. Some figures were irrevocably destroyed or are still missing today. Only the monument to the fallen Russian soldiers in World War II gives an idea of where Victory Allee once began with Albrecht the Bear, the founder of the Mark Brandenburg.
Directly opposite the monument, inconspicuously in the thicket, was Siegesallee, which stretched right through Berlin's Tiergarten to today's Kemperplatz on the edge of Potsdamer Platz.
Let's take a closer look at the Siegesallee dolls.

Even though the Siegesallee with its figures no longer exists, it still shows us its sculptural beauty in the shadow of Brandenburg-Prussian history.
