Let's start this journey towards the knowledge of color with a question: How to start painting with acrylic colours?
In this video I'll show you a way to get to know them, you won't see the canonical exercises but I'll try to suggest a different approach to learning about acrylic color, less usual and hopefully more engaging, more creative.
In these simple acrylic paint exercises we will be using various brushes and two colors, Mars Black and Titanium White, but it can just as well be another black or another white it doesn't matter with the addition of a beautiful tone at the end of the video.
We must immediately say that we must not try to find what we have left in the oil paints and vice versa, we must tiptoe into both of these worlds with the enthusiasm and patience of an archaeologist who is preparing to cross a cave or an excavation waiting to be able to make a very important discovery, with the diversity that we have color and we are certain that we will find something.
We will find the desire to experiment with the drying time of the color and we will ask ourselves how long it takes for an acrylic color to dry and how we can interact with it when it is about to dry or how we can intervene when it is already dry. How to best use the brush with acrylic color will be one of the two fundamental things we should learn together with how color behaves, its consistency and all its properties that we will discover as we enter our cave of knowledge.
The colors are of the Heavy Body type, i.e. those that have almost the consistency of oil paints, therefore the least fluid.
