The 4 Pillars of medical ethics: Autonomy, Beneficence, Nonmaleficence and Justice
Autonomy:
The patient has the freedom to choose freely when they can. To make an informed decision, the healthcare worker should provide the patient with material information containing the benefits and risks of each treatment, and the likelihood of success and alternative treatments.
Beneficence:
The intent of doing good for the patients. It means taking actions that serve to promote the well-being of the patient.
Nonmaleficence:
The obligation of healthcare workers is not to harm the patient.
Justice:
Justice is the fair and equitable allocation of resources for ALL patients without prejudice.
