The top 6 causes of high reverse T3 (rT3). If you avoid these then you can lower your reverse T3 levels the all natural way.

Today we are going to be talking about reverse T3 and what causes HIGH levels of this hormone. If you are new to reverse T3 then allow me to explain why you should really start to care about this hormone.

Reverse T3 is an ANTI THYROID metabolite that BLOCKS thyroid function. The higher your reverse T3 is the more hypothyroid you will feel (the crappier you will feel).

There are certain things which TRIGGER high levels of reverse T3 and these things can be both treated and MANAGED to help you feel better.

The problem? You must be AWARE of these issues so that you can avoid them.

You can easily test for reverse T3 as well (sometimes referred to as rt3) in the blood and with normal thyroid lab tests.

With that in mind, let's talk about 6 common causes of high reverse T3.

#1. Dieting and calorie restriction.

Calorie restriction and dieting is a HUGE cause of high rt3 levels. As you restrict your calories your metabolism will drop and your rt3 will RISE.

In the video I mentioned you can find more information about my weight loss guide which is here: https://www.restartmed.com/hormone-ma...

#2. Inflammation.

Inflammation from ANY Causes will block and limit your body's ability to convert T4 into the active T3 thyroid hormone. The more inflammation in your body the higher your rt3 will be.

#3. Nutrient deficiencies.

Nutrient deficiencies, if present, may lead to high reverse T3. The specific ones you should be aware of are Zinc, selenium, Vitamin A, and vitamin E.

You can supplement (if you are deficient in these nutrients) to help your body convert T4 into T3.

I have a thyroid supplement which helps with this exact issue which you can learn more about here: https://www.restartmed.com/product/t3...

#4. Intestinal dysfunction.

Your intestinal tract is the site of about 20% of T4 to T3 conversion which is a HUGE amount. If you have ANY gut issues then this 20% will be diminished and may lead to issues.

#5. Stress.

Stress from ANY cause can cause both high cortisol levels and drop your free T3 levels.

#6. Lack of sleep.

Lack of sleep is another big one and if you aren't sleeping 8 hours each night then you may be contributing to poor thyroid function.

Remember:

This video focuses primarily on the conditions and NOT on the treatment. I will do another video on that topic later.
