This video was shot at the Cooper Creek Reservoir in Sutherlin, Oregon on July 28, 2015.

We were parked above the boat docks close to the road. Many people below us were out on the reservoir in boats. We were there looking for birds and heard an Osprey call several times very close by but could not find it. However, soon did we discover it was actually a Steller's Jay sitting in the large oak tree above us mimicking the calls  of the local ospreys. I watched and recorded the bird for a while as it produced a variety of calls and mother tossed it a few french fries to attract it closer to us.
Previously I had only known jays to mimic the call of a Red-tailed Hawk, so this was an exciting and new experience for the both of us when we heard the calls.

From listening to the Cornell Guide to Bird Sounds: The Master Set for North America, I was able to more accurately identify the different calls the Steller's Jay was producing when reviewing the video. The quiet squeaking may have been what is known as the Whisper Song, though it is hard to tell because of how quiet the jay was and how loud the surrounding noises of boats, cars, and the wind. My camera is especially bad for picking up wind noise due to the location of the microphones.

Sorry that the other noises did not allow for a clear listening experience, but you are able to hear the different songs and mimicry of the Steller's Jay.  I tried to edit out as much as possible, leaving the least shaky of footage and the times you could hear the Jay calling the clearest and without so much background noise while also showing all of the different songs and calls it had produced.
