Ein Sonntag im Juli 2023
Ein Sonntag im Juli 2023 und das Sommerwetter lädt geradezu ein, dem Öchsle, der 19km langen Schmalspurmuseumseisenbahn zwischen Warthausen und Ochsenhausen einen Besuch abzustatten. Und so wie ich dachten viele Einheimische und Besucher und so war ich als Außenstehender sehr beeindruckt von dem Andrang, der vor Abfahrt des Zuges in Warthausen herrschte.
Beim Öchsle war man aber gut darauf vorbereitet und hätte ich es nicht selbst gesehen, so würde ich es wohl kaum glauben, daß im ersten Umlauf auf 750mm Schmalspur ein Zug mit 16 Wagen bzw. 45 Achsen zu befördern war. Wir sind hier nicht gerade in der norddeutschen Tiefebene, wo das Land ringsherum flach ist. Hier in Oberschwaben gibt es viele steile Anstiege zu bewältigen.
Die Dampflok, die diese Kraft besitzt und deren Akustik von weitem zu hören ist, ist die 600 PS starke 99 788, die 1956 beim Lokomotivbau Karl Marx in Babelsberg (ehemalige DDR) gebaut worden ist. Diese sächsische VIIK gelangte 2001 von der Deutschen Bahn AG zum Öchsle und wurde hier aufwändig restauriert und ist seit 2003 zuverlässig im Betriebseinsatz.
Für diesen Film möchte ich mich besonders beim Öchsle-Lokführer Thomas Guter bedanken, der mir die schönsten Filmstandpunkte gezeigt sowie bei Gerd Mittag, der für den erforderlichen Windschutz und somit saubere Tonaufnahmen gesorgt hat.

A Sunday in July 2023 and the summer weather invites you to pay a visit to the Öchsle, the 19 km long narrow-gauge museum railway between Warthausen and Ochsenhausen. And many locals and visitors thought the same way as I did, and as an outsider I was very impressed by the rush that prevailed in Warthausen before the train departed.
But the Öchsle was well prepared for this and if I hadn't seen it myself, I would hardly believe that a train with 16 wagons or 45 axles had to be transported on 750mm narrow gauge in the first round. We are not exactly in the North German lowlands here, where the land is flat all around. Here in Upper Swabia there are many steep climbs to overcome.
The steam locomotive that has this power and whose acoustics can be heard from afar is the 600 hp strong 99 788, which was built in 1956 by Karl Marx Lokomotivbau in Babelsberg (former East Germany). This Saxon VIIK came to the Öchsle from the Deutsche Bahn AG in 2001 and was extensively restored here and has been in reliable service since 2003.
I would especially like to thank the Öchsle engine driver Thomas Guter for this film, who showed me the most beautiful film locations, and Gerd Mittag, who provided the necessary wind protection and thus clean sound recordings.
