This winter storm was the longest amount of time snow was on the ground in Knoxville in more than a century.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) reported that 36 people died in Tennessee due to the weather and extremely cold temperatures.

The Knox County Regional Forensic Center reported that Knox County had nine people die, with hypothermia being the contributing factor for many of them.

One of the victims was Linda Shropshire, a homeless woman who was found dead outside an apartment complex in downtown Knoxville.
