Playas del Coco in Costa Rica is a popular beach town for both locals and international visitors thanks to its close proximity to the Guanacaste Airport. Its a very family friendly destination, offering a fantastic beach vacation and winter escape.

The small but far from sleepy town of Playas del Coco is located in the Gulf of Papagayo. Costa Rica has its fair share of adrenaline filled surfer destinations and inspiring yoga retreats.
this town has grown from a small fishing village into one of the best beaches in Costa Rica. Located at only 25 minutes from the international airport in Liberia in the province of Guanacaste it is one of the easiest beaches to reach. Its relaxed atmosphere has attracted a great number of visitors and turned a slumbering town into a will-known Costa Rican paradise. Playas del Coco is a place you visit to unwind and simply enjoy life.
Compared to some of the other popular destinations in Guanacaste offering thrill and adventure, Playas del Coco is a laid-back beach town. The calm waves may not accommodate surfers, but rather welcome anyone who want to enjoy the waters and three kilometeres of sandy beach. If you want to add some extra fun to the mix, why not go diving here! I had two dives and was surprised how good diving one gets only a short distance off the beach. My next video will feature what diving here could be like! One can also go further out to to the Bat Islands with boat and dive with Bull Sharks and other large pelagics.
Playas del Coco is a town made up from restaurants and bars and all of them offer a varied
menu with local as well as international dishes. You will find Greek, Indian and Chinese restaurants, sports bars and pizzas on the Avenida Central. Closer to the beach, and along it you will find plenty of restaurants offering local dishes. There is also a good supermarket in the very centre of town.
Best time to visit Playas del Coco and other beaches is between January and May, as this is Costa Rica’s dry season. At Playas del Coco you can enjoy some amazing sunsets, nice restaurants, a range of hotels and accomodation that will satisfy most people. With a car one can explore other beaches or parts of Guanacaste province. I went diving with Deep Blue Diving one day, and I can recommend it!
