After President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, the nation - and the world - reeled. Harris Wofford, the architect of the Peace Corps under JFK, was based in Ethiopia as the Peace Corps Special Representative to Africa when he heard the news. "We'll never know if he would have been a great president," Wofford says. "I'd bet on him, but we never had that chance."
