The Kiel is a capital city of the northern German state, known as Schleswig-Holstein. It has approx. 240,000 inhabitants. The city was founded in the 13th century as “Holstenstadt tom Kyle”. The name of the city was changed as Kiel in 1900. The Kiel city is located in nearby the Baltic Sea, that’s why, it is  very important in view of maritime activities as well as transport hub.

The local government in a year is organised an annual Kiel Week, which is the  biggest sailing event in the world. The Kiel city has various famous places, especially; I) The Maritime Museum, II) Old Botanical Garden and III) Molfsee Open Air Museum.

The Port of Kiel is a significant port for passengers and cargos. The port occupies the inner part of the Baltic Sea inlet Kieler Förde and includes the approach to the locks at the eastern end of Kiel Canal.
