How to Draw Classic Sonic - Sonic the Hedgehog Movie (1999 Animation Cell)

How to draw Sonic The Hedgehog by TailsWhacker55. The speedy little hedgehog with attitude. From the classic Sega video games and cartoons, to the modern 3D games and crossovers, the design hasn't changed too much.

How to Draw Sonic The Hedgehog step-by-step:
Start by drawing his head. His body is a small circle drawn at an angle. For now the legs are a little bit short and his feet are just like human feet. This is the basic shape of his body. Now let's focus on drawing his face and getting the details on there. You're going to draw his eyes diagonally going away from his nose area. He has these huge eyes like Spiderman's mask just with his mean looking brows looks furrowed brow pointing down. His nose is like a pencil shape that is poking out. There is one pupil over here and you're going to draw in some simple guidelines, so you can match the other one with it. Next, tighten up his mouth areas by drawing a simple curve with the little cheek that he has. His ears have little triangles on top and the other side is turned away from us. His top fin or hair rather, goes out like a sharp fin. His second one comes down and goes just where his mouth begins. The last one comes out and ends at the base of his neck. Next, draw his arms down .They are just straight lines. The palm of his hand is a circle, a basic shape. His fingers are kind of like bananas. If you need reference, draw your own. Now you're going to thicken up the lines in his legs. And add these donuts on his ankles. His shoes are just flushing out the big triangle. Sketch out each one out here, put the strap going across his foot. Now back to those donuts around his ankle. I did those because that's the basic shape of his sock. Instead of just drawing the sock, you want to show how everything has a shape underneath. His other arm is just resting on his hip. Then, use transparency paper to trace Classic Sonic again with permanent pen.

Painting Classic Sonic step-by-step:
Now, I show you how to colour it on a transparency. Just like traditional animation studios. First, you need blue, red, white and you need to mix white, yellow and a little bit of red to create peach. First, paint Sonic's arms, stomach, ears and muscle with peach. Next, paint his gloves, shoes, socks, nose and eyes with white, then, paint Sonic's shoes with the main colour red. Finally, paint the rest of the drawing with blue and what for the paint to dry.

Drawing a background step-by-step:
You can draw any background you want, you can draw a Green Hill Zone background. First, you draw the grass, under the grass, draw the patterns, which is just little squares, draw some spiky flowers with leaves. Next, draw the trees, with more, tall grass with a small TV screen, with a tree, under the top grass, there is a small pattern with squares. Then, draw more trees, with a river and with some yummy tasty golden rings. After that, there is huge, unexplainable mountains with cotton candy like clouds. Finally, colour the background. Colour the rings and some flowers with yellow, use green to colour the plants and the grass. Use red and brown for the patterns underneath the grass, and finally, you use blue for the river, clouds and the sky. Once you have done the background, make sure your animation cell is dried up so you can put your cell on the background. Enjoy your animation cell and remember that making an animation takes long processes.
