Risk of Asthma and Allergies Linked to Phthalates Exposure During Pregnancy

Phthalates are a group of chemicals used to make plastics more durable. They are often called plasticizers. Phthalates are in hundreds of products, including:

👉 Fragrance/parfum
👉 Soaps
👉 Shampoos
👉 Hair sprays
👉 Lubricating oils
👉 Vinyl flooring (if you're remodeling, they do make phthalate-free ones!)
👉 Garden hoses
👉 Medical tubing 🫣
👉 Lots of product packaging, including takeout containers (especially ones marked with 1 or 7 on the plastic type triangle thingy)

What can you do?
⭐ Avoid products with phthalates (may appear as DOP, DBP, DMP, DEP, DiBP, DBP, BzBP, DEHP, BBP)
⭐ Avoid all fragrances, 75% of them contain phthalates. The odds are against you.
⭐ Dine in instead of ordering takeout to avoid the plastic packaging.
