The kidneys are bilateral organs placed retroperitoneally in the upper left and right abdominal quadrants and are part of the urinary system. In the full version of this video, we’ll take a look at the gross anatomy of these organs.
Once we're done reviewing its gross anatomy we’ll jump into histology. We'll cover the renal capsule and renal cortex, renal medulla, the pelvicalyceal system and the vasculature of this organ.
Next, we'll discuss the functional structure of the kidney, the nephron. We’ll also discuss the renal corpuscle, the tubular system, and the features of the fetal kidney.
Finally, we’ll wrap up the tutorial by discussing glomerulonephritis in our clinical notes section.
