In this video, we’re going to talk about the important connection between iodine and your health. Iodine is a trace mineral that supports brain function, thyroid function, child growth, and also helps regulate estrogen.  Iodine deficiency can cause a goiter and also affects cognitive function.

Intellectual disability, also known as mental retardation, is characterized by decreased motor skills, slower learning, decreased ability to solve problems, and an IQ of less than 70.

About half of the time, the condition is considered idiopathic. This means that the cause is unknown, but this isn’t true! The most likely cause is an iodine deficiency.

If you’re pregnant, consume sea kelp to prevent an iodine deficiency. Sea kelp is the best source of iodine. If you choose an iodine supplement, make sure it’s a food-based source of iodine.
